A major dairy products producer and distributor desires to track the tubs/crates in each of the vehicles used to deliver milk sachets as a means to reduce the incidence of overloading as well as minimizing the possibilities of adding extra sachets of milk into a crate/tub without proper authentication. Among the areas that require tracking are:
Number of tubs per delivery truck per trip
Track return of the tubs as against the numbers loaded
Manage the Tub as an asset and track its usage including incidences of breakage
Generate reports as necessary
SOLUTION
The Barcode based Crate Tracking Solution was proposed to enable the dairy products producer to track the dispatch and arrival of the milk crates at every outlet and distribution center. Waterproof bar codes to be affixed on each crate. This solution in its entirety shall allow the dairy products producer to accomplish the following:
Create a web portal where all information can be stored and retrieved
Track the number of crates sent from each plant
Track the number of crates received by each outlet or distributor
Compare the number of crates to the quantity of milk packets supplied
Configure the Barcode Readers differently for different type of users
Analyze and identify any differential between quantity sent and received
Analyze quantity delivered versus payments made by outlets
Track and analyze time lines of delivery and determine areas of improvement
Track these based on geography and packaging plants
Track driver, Truck usage and integrate with HR and Payroll
Upon final integration with the Business Intelligence Modules, reports can be derived seamlessly and geographical intelligence can be utilized for greater market penetration and improved quality of service to the consumers.
